Cold Case is a compulsive TV series featuring the "Cold case" unit of Philadelphia Police Dept, whose task is to re-investigate unsolved homicide cases of previous years. The show was an instant hit when it first aired in the USA in September 2003 but has attracted some criticism as being very similar in plot to two other series, "Cold Squad" a Canadian TV series which started in 1998, and "Waking The Dead" a BBC show first aired in 2000.
Add to that the documentary real-life crime series "Cold Case Files" and there's a lot of old unsolved crime around these days!
